Beautiful Flaws

Small beads of sweat dripped down my aching frame

The sun beamed down upon my scarlet skin

The hum of bugs produced an awful din

The glaring sun felt like engulfing flames;

Each blazing moment was an endless bane

Compared to summer's day would be a sin

My temper for this heat had been stretched thin

Each spring I hoped that summer never came

But as I watch the fragrant flowers bloom

Releasing honey scents, rich like genoise

And hear the waves caress the shore with grace

I realize I’ve been quite inert with gloom

For summers beauty lies within its flaws

I stretch my arms to summer's warm embrace.
