Starting with sounds of wind whipping my skin,
chills sped down my spine making me feel thin.
I imagined the color of the cloud,
when thunder interrupted crashing loud.
Standing and watching the lightening flash,
water drip dropped with a small little splash.
Smelling hard rain brewing beneath the sky,
a burly drip fell right into my eye.
I closed my eyes with my mouth open wide,
drops dripped in until I was satisfied.
Every sense of myself slowly calmed down,
as the storm quickly passed my small town.
Start to finish was faster than I knew,
the storm was finally out of my view.

The author's comments:

I was inspired to write this piece out of fears that I have. Thunderstorms aren’t pleasing to me when they are wild, so I wanted to incorporate that into a poem. I always write poems, and I wanted to choose a different style. I decided to write this poem as a sonnet, something I haven’t written before.

Now this is poetry. I could sense and feel everything. Awesome poem!
