I really would just like to talk to you.

You scream and yell at me, I am so done.

You say you love me, I hope that is true.

You say to shut up, okay, you have won.

Apparently, my problems don’t matter.

You say I wasted sixteen years for you.

At dinner, I talk, you slam your platter.

Hiding, you say, is the one thing I do.

You’re breaking my heart, why can’t you be nice?

Your love: the one thing I wish to achieve.

For you, I have one small piece of advice,

In college, if you don’t want me to leave.

My heart falls like the leaves on pretty trees.

Just tell me you love me mom, pretty please?

I just wanted to focus on family relationships with this poem. I am hoping that others can relate to it, and be inspired to write poems of their own about this topic.
