Regretful Joy
Regretting the emotions I suppressed
all those months does me no good. She charmed you
with genuine smiles and away you flew.
Dazed, I witnessed new feelings manifest
with my desire pulsing out of my chest.
Your soulful deep eyes, flecks of pure flame, through
me cut gazing at her. Your intentions
so pure and simple. Love, you wicked jest.
The bonding of two angels holds ideal,
though mourning past fantasies I support
you and pray deeply for your success. She’ll
keep your laugh ringing, you'll still be genteel.
Evermore, I beam watching you cavort
for once, long ago, your heart she did steal.

I actually wrote this sonnet based on a personal experience I had. It really captures the speaker's unrequired love but her desire to remain friends with the boy she likes and his girlfriend who is also her friend.
