Burning Bridges

Oh, bridges burnt can never be the same
Nothing from the ash can be reclaimed
Oak and blackberry soot flow down river drains
It’s all swallowed up with the roaring flames

And I saw you rip my banner
Then sent your fighters and gunners
Raided in the night; no room for my light,
Cold enough water, oh, weapons drawn at will
Landslides nor volcanoes could ever do this much.

Siege over my walls and towers
Made my armies into cowards
Raided in the night; no room for my light,
Cold enough metal, oh, blood spilled at will
Landslides nor volcanoes could ever do this much.

All because I burned those rivers dry.

With burning bridges, you see destruction
Burning bridges, I’ve clouded your mind
Burning bridges, hands like MacBeth
Burning bridges, red in your eyes
Even though we fight on the same side.

Now we must fight Mjolnir
Unite to fight against the Gods
Or suffer the gold deer,
Tyranny reigns ‘gainst the odds.

Cold enough hammer, oh, hearts ground at will
Landslides nor volcanoes could ever do this much
But now we fight on the same side.

With burning bridges, you see destruction
Burning bridges, I’ve clouded your mind
Burning bridges, hands like MacBeth
Burning bridges, red in your eyes
Even though we fight on the same side.

So when I see you fighting
I know you’ll be my best
They’ll know the walls have writing
When their chances have passed
So I will burn and you will tear
Biting arms and pulling hair
And we’ll storm the mountain there
And we will show them we live here.

Burning bridges (they will know us by the end of the night)
With burning bridges (we’ll burn brighter than the sun)
With burning bridges (the heat will melt icy hell)
Landslides nor volcanoes could ever do this much.

The author's comments:

This song was written with inspiration from Ed Sheeran's I See Fire. So much so, in fact, that these lyrics can replace the original word for word. It's as if I wrote alternative lyrics to the exact same song*.

*This is exactly what I did. I do not own the original song in any form, and wrote this merely to reflect my attachment to Ed Sheeran's version of the song.
