Untitled
You see that I’m smiling
Surrounded by friends
I giggle and laugh
But it’s all just pretend
You think that I’m happy
Because that’s how it seems
It’s the front I put up
As I swallow my screams
You think that I’m happy
You think I’m okay
‘Cuz I paste on a smile
Every damn day.
But it only gets harder
To hide what I’m feeling
To pretend that it matters
Whether I live or die
You don’t see
I feel so empty
The tears I cry
Huddled in my bed at night
You don’t know
How much I’m hurting
Trying so hard to feel alive
When really I’m dead inside
