Grateful for Freedom

On the torn up seat of my tractor,
layers of dust on my skin
acres and acres of farmland
stretch out ahead of me
A sense of accomplishment-
as a hard week comes to an end

Sunday morning dawns
and I find myself at peace
sitting on a church bench
worshiping with my family.
hope, guidance and protection
make my pathway clear
and give me strength, to face another week

The school week begins
classes to juggle and grades to maintain
sports challenges to face and pressures to fit in
A sense of relief-
as a hard week comes to an end

Sunday morning dawns
and I find myself at peace
sitting on a church bench
worshiping with my family.
hope, guidance and protection
make my pathway clear
and give me strength, to face another week

Twenty years down the road
what challenges will my children face?
Where will they find their strength
amid the confusion of the world?
A sense of worry in my heart-
will they freely worship the way that I did?

Sunday morning dawns
and I find myself at peace
sitting on a church bench
worshiping with my family.
hope, guidance and protection
make my pathway clear
and give me strength, to face another week

My mom inspired me to write this piece about myself and life and to make it personal.
