My Lyrics to Noble Maiden Fair (A Mhaighdean Bhan Uasal)
I was strong, I was free
Like a bird, I could see,
But distant hills, cold and bleak,
Have frozen in my sight
My wings are frozen, light is rare,
I cannot see, my chains ensnare
Here is dark, no more light
Give me back my sight
I was weak but I gave aid
Now I’ll never be afraid
See my light now, here inside
Always by my side
I am strong, never alone
At this long last, I’m finally home
I can see now, faint but sure
Finally I am pure
I’ll never give in
Feicim an solas , ag taitneamh síos , (I see the light, shining down, )
tá sé géar mar gloine, te mar an ghrian, (it’s sharp as glass, warm as the sun, )
Beidh mé ag dul , beidh mé a bheith saor in aisce, (I will go, I’ll be free, )
a fheiceáil ar an spéir arís . (to see the sky again.)
(I see the light, shining down, )
(it’s cold as glass, warm as the sun, )
(I will go, I’ll be free, )
(to see the sky again.)

I really liked this song, and I love writing lyrics, so here are my own words to this song.
It's based on a story I'm writing (medieval), and this is a song a 18 year-old girl sings for a little boy with icy blue eyes and coal black hair who, who lost his sight while defending a little girl in a prison camp. The boy dies after she sings the song.
