"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than be loved for who I am not." -Kurt Cobain

I grew up in a home with all the bills being paid,
A hot meal ready for me on the stove every day,
My mother and my father of course tried their best,
To give me everything, all the money that was left,
And it worked, here I am living the life of a student,
Looking at my future, very studious and prudent,
I know it's not the same for others as it was for me,
I had a family that fulfilled all of my every need,
But let's make this clear, just because it's hard,
Doesn't mean that it's surreal to shoot for the stars,
Gotta look up, gotta be up, gotta stay up, gotta hold up,
Just 'cause you're down doesn't mean that you gotta roll up,
Keep walking with that smile that you always be rockin',
And I promise you one day that the tears, they will be stoppin',
There's more to life than money and power, and other poisons,
Just 'cause your time hasn't come doesn't mean you weren't chosen,

Can you see what I'm saying, can you hear me cry?
America wake up before we run out of time,
The clock is ticking, hands are winding to an end,
All because we follow society's dangerous trend,
We grow up and show up and let the world move on,
As people are dying and crying, the show goes on,
But why? Isn't it time to make a difference?
To leave our mark on the human existence?
All I'm saying is there's more to life than watching it go,
Instead of sitting back and watching as our mistakes flow,
Gotta keep on fighting, don't just put this book on the shelf,
To succeed and achieve and die as our best self,

There's a war to be fought and I'm not about to sit down,
Not about to give up on my very own gold crown,
I earned my wings, and through hard work and dedication,
Earned my stripes, this world it has no reservations,
I didn't fight in any wars or take a bullet to the chest,
But I did my best to be better the rest,
Hardcore, no good, beat-down punks,
Always feedin' off of other's failure, with their own in thier trunks,
I'm here today because of who I am,
How I was raised, the product of demand,
I didn't fall down at the slightest misconception,
I climbed up that ladder at my very own built discretion.

This is a song (more specficially a rap) regarding how you can rise up from anything and built yourself up despite what your life is like.
