Farmer Boy's City Girl
Down on the prairie, twas a farmer's boy
At 15 years old he'd learn the ploy,
He'd work and toil,
Says “Ain't a life for me
But workin' the plow and a truck for my joy.”
A long ways away, lived a blond hair girl
In the heart of the city,
Her blue eyes ruled the world
Was only 12 years old,
She learned a smile was all she'd need
to buy her toys and pearls.
(Chorus)
Never gonna know, They're never gonna share
They could pass by each other
But neither would dare
Say “She's too good for me.
Little city girl who walks in the streets”
Young Farmer's Boy, he went right past
Was a drivin' daddy's truck goin' a little fast
Came to the city lights and he stomped on the brakes,
Young city girl crossed the road on her skates
City Girl she gave a smile,
She saw the farmer's boy in his truck runnin' wild
At 16 years old she had her momma's eyes,
And with a wave she took off, lettin' Farmer Boy by
(Chorus)
Never gonna know, They're never gonna share
They could pass by each other
But neither would dare
Say “The Farmer Boy, what would he see in me?”
And little City Girl went back to the streets
20 Years old, Farmer's Boy become a man,
And drivin' in his truck, he held her hand,
Young City Girl she giggled at his smile,
And little by little their love run wild.
Young City Girl she gave him a grin,
And then the Farmer Boy, says “No love's a sin.”
Young Farmer's Boy he had his City Girl,
And when they got married they run off to see the world.
(Chorus)
Always they knew and always they cared,
They'd walk with each other
Hand in hand they'd bear,
Say “Farmer Boy do you love me?”
And Farmer Boy say “Of course City Girl, can't you see?”
Always they knew and always they cared,
They'd walk with each other
Hand in hand they'd bear,
Say “Farmer Boy do you love me?”
And Farmer Boy say “Of course City Girl, can't you see?”

It isn't fair that a city girl can't have her farmer's boy. This piece shows that despite differences, love can bloom in odd places.
