The day is here,
The day is bright,
We've won our chance,
We've won our fight;
Our quest's complete,
We're free to roam,
It's over now - we're going home!

We kiss good-bye
Our favorite guns,
We call our daughters,
Call our sons,
We cry to those
We've loved alone,
We cry to them,
"We're going home!"

The general shouts
As we run free,
He scans the crowd,
Then points to me,
"We need you, Soldier;
One last task,
So snatch your gun,
And fetch your mask."
Soon I run straight
Through blazing smoke,
The sky a wardrobe,
Fire the cloak,
But I still run,
For in my head,
There's still one thing
That must be said,
And as the flames
Burn down the brome,
I shout it out:
"I'M GOING HOME!"

The red swoops in,
My mind's ablaze,
I take deep breath,
My thoughts a haze,
My skin is ice,
My sight is foam,
It sinks in...
I'm not going home.
