A Dream For Sale
(Verse One)
Hope diminished after all this time
A dream deferred from my very mind
Even after I was sure it was only mine
Time allowed all these goals to fade
Slowly, but surely each and everyday
I must let it go no matter what
Because it's time for me to give up
(Verse Two)
This upsets me just as much as you
But we have to accept the truth
Because there is nothing we can do
Ever since my childhood I was dedicated
It was the drug that kept me medicated
But a change in the weather changed it all
And now I must watch it crash and fall
(Chorus)
What happens to a dream that you let go?
Does it float away with the ocean's flow
Or come back with a mind-setting row?
Does it explode because it was inferior
Or rise up above with the superior?
Either way I'm ending this very tale
By putting my mind consuming dream up for sale
(Verse Three)
Pay a dollar for details and a cent for claim
But take it before I'm put to shame
Because I'm tired of withstanding the rain
Pick it up before the morning sun
It's now on my to-do-list to get done
I'm in a very frantic and desperate hurry
So then I have to no longer worry
(Chorus)
What happens to a dream that you let go?
Does it float away with the ocean's flow
Or come back with a mind-setting row?
Does it explode because it was inferior
Or rise up above with the superior?
Either way I'm ending this very tale
By putting my mind consuming dream up for sale
(Bridge)
All my childhood I dreamed freely
But now I'm deprived of such ability
For I can no longer imagine so vividly
All I ever known is out of my hands
It's never coming back for all I understand
A dream deferred is a life deferred
And a new one can never be referred
(Chorus)
What happens to a dream that you let go?
Does it float away with the ocean's flow
Or come back with a mind-setting row?
Does it explode because it was inferior
Or rise up above with the superior?
Either way I'm ending this very tale
By putting my mind consuming dream up for sale
