The Thought that Makes You Stay
What am I doing here? Where do I belong?
It’s just too obvious that we don’t get along.
I think I’ve lost myself trying to find you.
It’s about time I focus more on what I need to do.
The more I chase down everything I see,
the more I realize, nothing worthwhile is so easy.
So if the best we can have is so messed up,
the best I can do is to give up.
Just because you’re beautiful doesn’t mean you have a heart.
Prove it please, or step aside, but I will not let down my guard.
I’ve told you near a hundred times to simply walk away.
What is the force that keeps you here? The thought that makes you stay?
The more I chase down everything I see,
the more I realize, nothing worthwhile is so easy.
So if the best we have is so messed up,
then why won’t you please just give up?
I don’t need nor want you here. I’ve already moved on.
Now I can’t tell you face to face, so I’m telling you in song.
I’ve decided to forget you. I’ve made up my mind to quit.
But I ask, if this is right, then why am I full of regret?
The more I chase down everything I see,
the more I realize, nothing worthwhile is so easy.
Maybe we could fix what was so messed up,
Oh, why did I ever decide to give up?
