Underneath the Skin
Invisibility, I swear it consumes me,
Like a fire raging through the night I'm beat
Maybe I will follow, or try to stand on my own
But sincerity has a nasty undertone
I taste it on my tongue,
Feel it on my fingertips
What I know I thought I knew is now what I miss
Maybe time will stand by itself,
and I'll be promised a change
But absolution will never come
to save me in its grace
Just say you never knew
the emptiness of loneliness
I know about the truth,
it hurts
But underneath your skin is where it burns
Chilled down to the core, never felt like this before,
When you talk and laugh you leave me wanting more
I feel butterflies, when I see your blue eyes
To laugh, to live, to love, I can't decide
I've always lived this way,
but now everything's new
I have to choose to be secure, or be with you
Maybe time will stand by itself,
and I'll be promised a change
But absolution will never come
to save me in its grace
Just say you never knew
the emptiness of loneliness
I know about the truth,
it hurts
But underneath your skin is where it burns
The pain you feel inside,
It rips through me like live fire
I can't deny,
or hide behind a mask
But then I see your perfect face,
And all my worries fade away;
They fade to black
Maybe time will stand by itself,
and I'll be promised a change
But absolution will never come
to save me in its grace
Just say you never knew
the emptiness of loneliness
I know about the truth,
it hurts
But underneath your skin is where it burns
