Mother's Day
You have been my mother for 16 years,
You’ve been there through all the drama, all the boys and all the tears.
But lately things are harder, and I want to make them right,
I don’t want you to ever feel like all we do is fight,
Because mom, you’re where I go when I’m alone, when all I need’s a friend,
When there’s no one else around to hold me ‘til the end.
You’re my sanctuary; you’re my happy place,
You’re my favorite lady,
In your arms I’m safe.
You have been my best friend and my worst enemy,
But through this I’ve learned lessons you didn’t even mean to teach.
You taught me tough love and unconditional love are the same,
And when my daughter learns the same thing, I’ll tell her you’re the one to blame.
And I hope that she takes it and she makes it part of her everyday.
And even when we don’t see eye to eye, she’ll still look at me and say,
You’re my sanctuary; you’re my happy place,
You’re my favorite lady,
In your arms I’m safe.
Mom, I always love you even when we fight,
And I’ll be here to say I’m sorry when it turns out you were right.
Thanks for all you’ve done mom, “You’re the best mom in the world.”
I hope you know how much it means to me that I get to be your girl.
Because mom there’s no way to say all I have inside,
And if I’ve learned one thing from you it’s to keep my heart open wide.
You’re my hope, my hero; you’re my happy place,
You’re my favorite lady,
Happy Mother’s Day.
