In Loving Memory
Did you hear when the child’s laughter stopped
That dark midsummer day?
Going on with your life, until you heard
Of an innocent life taken away...
The closest of friends met the darkest of times
Worlds torn apart in a blink of an eye
A heart that did nothing wrong to anyone
A shard of innocence that didn't have to die
The strongest of hearts felt the strongest of pains
When the news had come out they were gone
The teardrops that fell were so hard to restrain
For the loved ones who had passed on...
Why the good die young is what I'll never know
And I don't think anyone ever will
The pain that’s born from such a deep loss
I hope it's something you'll never feel
Did you hear of the time when the hearts were broken
That tragic summer day?
Did you feel guilty that you could have done something
Before they had to walk away?
Did you look in the mirror with ten thousand questions
Just hoping for an answer to one?
Did you cry over photos of what used to be
Remember when the good times begun?
Did you cry out at night hoping for a miracle
Wanting it to all go away?
Did you wish upon every star in desperation?
Wanting to see their smiling face
Did you hold to your friends, hope to never lose them
And fear for the time to say goodbye?
And hope with all your heart that they’ll always be there
Still loving you right by your side?
Why the good die young is what I'll never know
And I don't think anyone ever will
The pain that’s born from such a deep loss
I hope it's something that you'll never feel
Let yourself cry for the ones who have fallen
The friends that you loved that are gone...
Hold on tight to the family and friends that surround you
And thank mercy you have someone to love...
Did you open your eyes hoping it was a bad dream
That something like this wasn't true?
Just to realize in despair your worst fears have happened
And the saddest of tears bring back the blue…
Did you weep for the child who met fate before time
And rests in a velvet-lined bed?
Did you think of the tomorrows that could’ve been
All the words now left unsaid
Did you look up to heaven, hope they were looking back
At the friendships they left here for us
As the tears painted memories to be never forgotten
Until we’re together again
Where were you when time had stood still
For the ones who had been lost?
The tears that were cried for the ones who have died
Make us ever stronger as one...
A candle for each one of the newborn angels
To light the way to their paradise
Each for a memory of a child we loved
Each for the thousand tears we cried.

Missing someone gets easier every day because even though it's one day further from the last time you saw each other, it's one day closer to the next time you will.
