Waking up to the vermillion morning skies, on the planet that rains diamonds.

They sparkle in the morning sun, but never quite hit the ground. Thanks, World Serpent.

The hot sun paired with a crisp breeze is something akin to one’s first crush, mine was Justin Bieber when I was 8. The cool draft flows through my half-open window.

I dreamt of the breakfast I wished I could have every day, but my grandma says to eat “everything in moderation”.  I try to do good on her, at least by this.

“If you ever say never too late, I’ll forget all the diamonds you ate.” screams the alarm tone on my phone, blaring To the End by My Chemical Romance. It’s quite a fitting scene considering the world around me. The world out my windows.

I meander my way out of bed and look in the mirror. My hair is sticking up with sleep static and it looks as if an artist drew a caricature of me, sort of like the works made by Honoré Daumier, a french artist who got in trouble with many people for his very lifelike depictions of authoritative figures during the french revolution.

Caution, says the lionfish. I remember that its spines are poisonous, and so I maneuver around it when it swims through the air into the bathroom after me. Dude, it's too early to be thinking about this. Its spines are almost like it’s begging me to hug it, but that would literally kill me.

My alarm goes off again. This time by Relient K :  “Can I relate to you the way you relate to me… I just want to be perceived the way I am”. Musicians really get the feeling right. This is a reality, that's for sure. The world serpent, representing the balance in this realm, protecting us all from being ripped to shreds by the diamond rain that is like grape shot out of a cannon. (That's illegal now under the geneva conventions I think, at least on earth) The world serpent is a  comparable beauty to the diamonds themselves. Like the lionfish, the diamonds that pierce its skin make it shine in the light like a protective disco ball. The light refracts in so many ways, even in the colors that only shrimp can see and discern. But through the beauty, is the pain and toxicity that lurks. Nobody can hug the world serpent or a lionfish because of the way they were created, the way that they evolved to fit into the world.
