Ruined By Dawn
She had a wild demeanor
Wind in her hair,
As though afloat!
And nose in the air;
Always so calm,
yet so lively;
So unlike her when she
whispered something shyly
It seemed like
I had known her forever
But she was still as big a mystery
As when I met her
Her hair bellowed
In the cool wind,
But not enough
To hide her face
Her skin was
supple and moon white,
And so beautiful was she,
stark against the night
Her eyes like sapphires,
So blue and clear,
And they sparkled
As fell a single tear.
I wiped it with my thumb,
for her sorrow was greater
for me than my own;
It made my resolve shatter
I said words
that are hard to remember;
so captivating was her beauty
like a hearth in December
The echo of her laughter
Rang through the night,
But she told me at dawn
She would take flight
And tears like pearls
sprang from her eyes,
I knew she was tired
of this world's terrible lies
That's when my lips
found hers
And we stood in the hail
planning our forever
Just to be broken
by the lightening sky,
From black to blue
and finally gold light
And she broke away
from our kiss
And thus ended
Our moment of bliss
She left, leaving me
in pieces and fragments,
That would never rejoin;
Oh, my sorrow and resentment!
My body bereft of my heart
For it had fallen for her
The minute I set my
eyes upon her.
