Growing Up
As a child, everything
Was easier.
People always took care of
You,
You never were responsible
For anything.
And best of all, when you fell and scraped your knees,
You got a Band-Aid and a
Magic kiss from mom,
And everything was better.
The pain went away and
You continued to play.
But time goes on
And you grow up.
Play dates turn into parties.
Learning the ABC’s turn into
Taking tests that
“Determine your future”.
But I am not ready to
Grow up.
I am not ready to go to college
or to be an adult.
As much as it scares me,
There is no stopping time.
People really seem to enjoy life,
And live to the fullest-
They are always happy and look on the
Bright side of things-
A quality I deeply envy.
But time goes on,
And you have to
Grow Up.
