The Ghost
An empty current stirs this song,
A lonely effigy of a thought gone wrong.
One gasp of wind, it disappears,
But leaves behind the crippling fears.
No man’s hand may lift the burden,
Nor any beast breach the fiery curtain
That crashes down in paralyzing thunder,
Tearing the body and mind asunder.
If one man stops, another begins,
The battle for life which no man wins.
An empty shadow walks across,
The grave you thought you had, then lost.
And six feet under, a hole betrays,
The man’s secret of where, at dawn, he lays.
There only be one place to go,
And that place, the remnants of home.
A person, but not, walks through the night,
Sending thru all a terrible fright.
And chill after chill, it all begins,
As the battle is lost, and strong grows the wind.
