Fireflies and Stars
For Andy Touchton
When the sun fades away
And the sky dawns its navy hue
I long for nothing more
Than take a twilight stroll with you
Together, hand in hand
We can observe the beauty of night
Guided simply by whim and impulse
Following shadows of silver moonlight
For the evening was made for times like this
The Creator made it to be
For he crowned both the heavens and earth
With glittering ecstasy
For the heavens, he suspended stars in space
Held there by only His will
To shimmer and shine as diamonds above
And your eyes with twinkling to fill
Then for the earth, he appointed fireflies
To fly about as a dream
Glowing and glistening with an luminescent joy
Making the night a fairyland seem
This wonderful realm was made for us
Fit for them more regal than royalty
A blessing from the Creator alone
A blessing for you and me
So remember this moment forevermore
When all of the night admired us as we are
When nature displayed its glamorous dress
Of incredibly dazzling fireflies and stars
