Winter
Winter’s frosty hands
cup my face as I walk out
the door, reminding
me to put on gloves
and a coat. Snow wraps around
fences and railings,
letting the world be
a present for all. We take
for granted our warmth
and forget how chilled
the earth is. Perhaps that’s why
snow comes in blankets.
