Contrived to give pain
Castigate they choose to do
Thought to disabuse
To purge the sinners to clean
Only to have fear spread aflame
Demagogues run away
From the fires of death safely
Only to see the world crash
Worried about ennui
Crumble under fear
The ones trying to save
The pain lasted years
Until finally stopped
From chaos to revolution
