A normal response
To this situation would be
To cry for some help.

This is anything
But an ordinary day.
Please explain why not.

I am staring Death
Straight in the face. But I am
Not afraid at all.

Why is fear absent
From my emotions? Where is
It? Lost forever.

Once one has seen Death,
One is no longer scared of
It. Or he. Or she.

I do this not for
My own well-being. I do
This for my lost friend.

The author's comments:
This was an assignment for my English class. We had to write a haiku and submit it, so I made the first haiku. I felt like that needed explanation, so I made another. I continue to feel like I needed more, so after an hour and a half of off-and-on writing, I came up with this. Please critique!

Is it possible that this has become even more awesome than the last time I read it? Probably! Keep on writing, Luke! :D
