torture in hues of gold
In my dreams
the sunlight thread strands of gold and amber
into his dark curls,
and melted his chocolate eyes
into pools of swirling honey,
but he looked at me
like I was the work of art,
a miracle in and of myself.
his hands cupped my cheeks,
which I covered with my own,
tears from my eyes rolled heavy
and seeped through our hands,
