Poets shouldn’t love,

but that's the thing with poets,

that's what we do.

we find any reason to cling to a sentence because

we take words and thread them into our skin because

we find a home in their voice when it’s 3am. and

we’re on the phone because

“you are beautiful” means more to us in essence

and love is more than just a word, it’s a mix

of emotions and feelings that

never end

never end

never end

and “leave him alone” is synonymous to a death threat,

they said it once, and they said it again,

I think they want me dead,

they think it's supposed to be easy,

like what I had with him will just fade away,

but they don’t understand

I spent six years loving him

and the words he spoke to me

are now the threads that bind my skin

and the blood that runs in my veins,

whispering of him incessantly

through the hollows of my heart

echoing his name in every beat.
