I wonder if it's that simple?
I am fourteen, short, born in Fort Lauderdale.
I go to school at North Broward
I am the only short student in my class.
The steps to the bus lead to the Starbucks’s
Through a neighborhood, one whole mile
I ride my skateboard
Se 5th CT my house lies at the end
Into my room, I grab my supplies
To the roof, I go
Jumping across until finally, my spot
I plop my self down and begin to work
It's not easy to know what is true for you or me
at 14, my age. But I guess I'm what
I feel and see and hear, Florida, I hear you:
hear you, hear me---we two---you, me, talk on this page.
(I hear Sydney too.) Me---who?
Well, I like to eat, sleep, drink, and game
I like cash for Christmas present,
So will my page be short
Being me, it will not be tall.
But it will be
a part of you, teacher.
You are also short yet
a part of me, as I am a part of you.
That's American.
Sometimes perhaps you don't want to be a part of me.
Nor do I often want to be a part of you.
But we are, that's true!
