Do They See Me?

Do they see me?
Walking from room to room,
people pass me, with the occasional
nudge of an unknown arm.
But not a look.
Do they see me?
Sitting with a small group,
sometimes alone in silence.
Trying my best to fit in,
like the final piece to a different puzzle.
Do they see me?
Always listening to music,
no one bothers to ask what kind.
“It's for the better,” I say,
counting down the days.
They don't see me.
