My Friend 3am
3am is my best friend.
I tell her all of my secrets,
My fears,
My worries,
My troubles,
And she listens.
She listens with an open heart
As I pour my entire mind and soul
Into 3am.
Sometimes I put so much energy into the things I tell her
That it leaves me too tired
To even speak to the other hours.
All I can do is move along,
Bottle it all up inside,
And wait for 3am to come back so I can tell her about my day.
But 3am turned out to be a gossiper.
She went and told all the other hours.
And every day they glare at me,
And taunt me,
And ask if what 3am told them about me is true,
And I no longer have an escape.
What was once left only for 3am,
Is my whole life now,
And I can’t escape it.
