Brownie's Birthday
Brownie’s birthday’s tomorrow!
He’s going to turn 9; amazing how the years pass and flow
A couple friends will be invited
Brazuca, Ripley; all happy and excited
A cake will be made
A white background laid
With the icon of a brown-furred dog
As brown as a log
Brownie himself, panting
Tongue sticking out, granting
Happiness for his 9th and coming years
The background, crafted with vanilla
Chocolate crafted to fill the
Dog icon
Red cherry/strawberry meant to have gone
As the tongue
Bluish-green letters squirted
Saying, “Happy Birthday, Brownie” as if blurted
Yellow-brown Milkbones float along the cake
Extra desserts for the dogs to intake
All the dogs snatch and consume
Until there’s no more room
Brownie trots around in his birthday hat
Triangle-shaped, to be exact
Brazuca and Ripley follow his lead
And see
Piles of birthday presents, wrapped
The dogs tug at the wallpaper; now snapped
What’s inside? Bones, beef sticks,
Balls, Chew toys; the dog’s eyes remain affixed
Soon, Brazuca and Ripley went home; hauling their gifts
Brownie stays behind; his gaze shifts…
Towards the bones!
