Where I Am From
I am from the mess—
The mail, the room, and the car
Overwhelmed and unmotivated…
I am from the stuff my parents say to me—
“Do what is going to make you succeed”, “Don’t be like others”, and the constant reminder of my mom saying, “you got this!”
Feeling motivated and prepared...
I am from the the reoccurring hurt—
The lies from friends, betrayal from family, and the cheating from my ex
Making me feel lonely
I am from overwhelming stress—
School, parents, and friends
Anxious and depressed…
I am from cars—
Buying a new one, going fast, and driving reckless
Excited and joyful…
I am from money—
Work, spending, and saving
Grateful and ecstatic
