I Miss Myself
I miss that girl
who believed in
everything
Who played outside until
sunset
Who stayed up all night
reading
When did she
let
society
decide her beliefs
When did she
exchange
playgrounds
for the Internet
When did she
let her
bookshelf
collect dust
When did she
become
me
I don't remember
when I looked in the
mirror
and stopped seeing
a girl
a person
a human
All I can see are
flaws
imperfections
and
empty eyes
I wish I could
go back in time and
warn her
that the real
monsters
don't live
under her bed
