Wrangling my inner thoughts is like
Trying to find a lightswitch in the dark
But there’s a wild animal in the room.
I know it’s possible
The way just isn’t clear.
And there’s a wild animal in the room.
I’ve been in that room for a decade
Dodging that animal
My hands roaming the walls
I never found the light
But I did find a window.
Sunlight soothes my aching brain
The heat slows my frantic animalistic anxiety.
But the days grow short
The nights are cold,
And I still haven’t turned on the lights.
