Voices In My Head
You glare at me
with evil in your eyes
like a puma ready to attack
only you don't physically hurt me
You throw mean words out like punches
one blow
two blow
I cry for you to stop
your words go around in circles in my brain
suddenly I am dizzy
three blow
four blow
my knees have given out
I cradle my head into my knees.
as if I am a child throwing a tantrum
five blow
six blow
I feel as though I am being suffocated
your words tie around my neck
choking me
seven blow
eight blow
you yell at me: "Fight back, defend yourself!"
my bones feel like jello and I am trapped
your laugh causes my body to shiver
"Why won't you fight back?" you say
nine blow
I clench my teeth
pushing you away
you fall down, I rise
"Who's all mighty now," you say.
ten blow
but when I look up
no one is there
it is only me
staring back in the mirror
eleven blow
knockout
