It's a bit like drowning
I suppose
but there's no way to swim
you're paralyzed
an old man on shore
tried to wave at me
I was too busy choking on saltwater
to notice it

This is a short, two-stanza story about what it feels like having anxiety. This doesn't necessarily apply to everyone with anxiety, as we all experience it differently. I hope this sheds light on the stigma of mental health issues. It does sound a bit cliche, but it's how I really feel. This isn't made up from a figment of my imagination.
