Trust
She leaps to her post,
inserting crescent shaped daggers for balance on the plush surface,
to sit regally by my side,
with a straight neck,
and arched back.
Her markings darker than the darkest night
and slither across her body in jagged lines.
I allow myself to smile
at her sheer beauty,
and watch her chest rise and fall in rapid succession.
Her tan tipped nose reaches down
To nuzzle my hand,
and reach out her sandpaper tongue
to lick my sore fingers,
relieve the pulsing tension from my body.
She lets her body fall beside me,
light in weight,
but heavy with trust, with responsibility.
And I hear it,
a rumbling noise,
increasing with volume with every passing second,
voicing her imprisoned emotions,
filling my heart.
Her chestnut brown eyes stare into me,
twinkling with happiness,
begging me to ruffle her fur,
show her my affection.
Every particle of fur retracts with pleasure
at the instant of my touch.
Joy ripples from me into her,
love unconditional.
She rolls over, showcasing her stomach-
a brilliant silver with black flecks strone through.
Her joy vibrating beneath my fingertips.
Trust and affection emits from her in waves,
crashing into me and sending droplets flying.
flowing into everything around.
Trust is easy for some,
yet impossible for others,
But a kitten so small and delicate,
a trust I yearn for
