I search every line for a spark
a switch in my brain
in my thoughts – in something
to turn on that cartoon light bulb of inspiration
to pop it into existence
rows and rows of patterned printed symbols
patterned pacing phrases – pieces of a puzzle?
no use
my eyes blur in the dim light my writing looks
like simple gray streaks on lined paper
they await deciphering
by another version of myself
