Astronaut
They hear the spaceship whirring, the count down almost near
NASA singing with anticipation, wondering if the trip will be a success
The engines sing as they blast off, shooting them into vast outer space
The gravity singing as it struggles to pull their rocket back to earth, then gives up
The atmosphere singing as they break through it, the stars singing as they welcome strangers into their home
The darkness of space singing as it engulfs their rocket in its cold embrace
With days as dark as nights, floating bodies, and new planets,
Astronauts sing songs of homesickness and adventure.
