Oreos

The familiar memories of getting an Oreo,

Reaching over the crippled plastic box

That has a large Oreo placed on the wrinkly flap.

And seeing the neat rows of brown and white

Lined up together, like soldiers in the Army

And selecting the perfect cookie

The one with the thickest white cream.

And the sweet satisfaction

Of feeling the cream curl and twist under the top

As I turn the Oreo and split them.

And the burst of flavor when I lick both sides.

And the soft splash as I dunk them inside

The white, white milk, now holding small dark specks.

And the wet, cool feeling against my tongue

As I savor each bite of the last Oreo.

This is a fun little poem I created when I was bored. I was thinking about the dark chocolate-y oreos and I decided to write a simple poem about it. Yum!
