Simply Titled, Me.
My soul is a canvas;
once white,
and clean.
Now stained by tears,
and tea,
and dropped bits of spaghetti.
Painted over and over,
again and again,
with favorite colors as I grew:
baby pink;
lime green;
ocean blue.
Splattered with ink;
smudged with charcoal;
squinted at and turned,
and hung and re-hung
on walls of memories.
Perfumed with laugher;
frayed by heartbreak.
Lost and found
beneath books and band tees.
Warped by time,
confusion,
lies,
love?
Behold
my masterpiece...
Beautiful.
And simply titled, “Me.”
