Becoming Brave
Always with the group,
never standing alone.
Twelve years old,
silent as a stone.
She has her own views,
but keeps them locked inside.
She tells very few,
afraid of others thoughts.
Debating in class,
so many disagree.
She stands up quietly.
Stopping the teacher midsentence,
she mumbles out her opinion.
She looks up in amazement,
noticing all the stares and smiles.
She sits back down,
a brave new girl.
