The first time I held a single snowflake,
The world paused.
The sun setting in the distance,
Icing the glazed world with an orange color.
The January air nipping at me, begging me to shiver,
To turn cold.
But I am already frozen.
I froze with this snowflake in my 7-year-old little paws.
My eyes ate up my face the more curious I became.
The more I leave it in my palm, it starts to melt.
But I freeze it in my mind.
I notice it’s sharp figure pointing out in many directions;
My life can go in many directions,
I can melt away completely.
I can blend in with the rest of the clueless crowd.
Or I can be
Me.
I can make someone stop and stare.
I want to make people freeze.
And when I melt away, I’ll know I made someone
Stop, think,
Grow curious about the surrounding world.
So I’ll be the snowflake,
World, you can be the curious, intrigued 7-year-old.
