The rising sun
partially blinds me.
I feel refreshed with my favorite smell,
freshly cut grass.
The cool morning breeze gives me the chills.
Dew on the grass
drenches my legs and my jeans.
Hummingbirds zoom in front of me.
flying away from much larger birds.
birds chirp in the distance,
and woodpeckers chip away
at the wood of the oak trees.
I meet eyes with a rabbit.
And as I shift myself to gaze at it in awe,
it bolts off.
The world can be different
if you look at it in another perspective, I realize.
I see a gift
given to us all.
