Coming Home
The drive,
the drive to the airport,
the drive to the airport where we were going to pick up my dad,
and our new puppy.
It felt like the longest ride of my life.
Once we got to our destination I would get to meet the puppy,
Charlie.
Arrived,
we arrived at the airport.
Waiting, just waiting.
The time ticking,
our hearts racing.
I could not stand still.
There it was,
a head popping from the crowd.
I see Charlie and I pick her up.
She gave me a warm hug.
She was a little fuzzball.
She was so small, so cute
Her wet little nose sniffing everything.
Her eyes full with hope.
She was mine not anyone else's.
Forever and always.
