Exploring Nature
Early morning. The sun blares through the blinds
and the cool breeze sways the bushes.
I make breakfast and shower, fresh for the day,
as I stuff my backpack for a relaxed hiking day by the lake.
I wait for friends outside in the sunny weather.
Then, we venture to the path in the woods.
The trees move with a whisper in the wind.
Leaves fall as we get closer to an opening in the saturation of trees.
Hidden in the woods, a small cliff overlooks the lake.
We settle there and enjoy the view.
Then, we jump off the cliff into the water. It looked safe,
I jumped into the water with a rush of excitement, floating to the surface.
The perfect day to be outside and enjoying nature,
there is unexplored land new and beautiful.
Flipping into the water with a refreshing splash,
I sit at the edge enjoying the flare of light off the lake.
A few hours pass and we are still amused,
staring at the cotton candy colored sky.
The sun retreats into the clouds.
We will remember this for years to come.
