Preparing the Perfect Pizza
My step dad prepares the ingredients by rolling out a pasty dough,
cracking open a can of sweet, fresh tomato sauce,
and shredding a block of creamy mozzarella cheese.
I prepare the pizza like a cake, one layer at a time.
However I want it; all it needs is dough, sauce, and cheese.
I place it on a pan and pop it in the oven.
We prepare to pulverize this tasty simplicity.
Cracker-thin crispy crust, and gooey cheese,
my personal plan for the perfect pizza.
I prepare to preserve slices in the fridge for later,
or to share with my family like an Italian Santa Claus.
But no matter — I will enjoy the perfection of my pizza.
We can prepare a pizza in a plethora of ways:
thin, thick, or Chicago-style, but from three simple ingredients.
Perhaps that’s the foundation of preparing the perfect pizza: simplicity.
