Why? Why?
Why?
It would be cruel to make a person with a broken leg run a mile
So why is it ok to force a kid to present that has a broken mind cluttered with anxiety?
Their grade isn’t affected in gym because they didn’t choose to break their leg.
But if we don’t participate enough or present, our grade gets hurt.
So you’re saying we choose to have a mental disorder?
Then when our grade drops we worry even more.
Why point us out and make us speak when it’s obvious we try to avoid it?
Why move us to the front of the class when you see we sit in the back with our head down every day?
We don’t talk
We do our work
We have good grades
We follow instructions
We do what we’re told
So why?
To spite us?
torture us?
Embarrass us?
To kill us inside?
That’s how we see it
All we want is to blend in
Stay out of the spotlight
Live our lifes’ in the shadows but people like you make it difficult
We didn’t do anything
We don’t deserve that
Why?
What’s the crime of sitting in the back when you're doing fine in class?
Do you know what talking in class is like for us?
Each eye is a piercing needle in your skin
Each whisper is mockery
Every person is choking you making it hard to breathe and speak
Each breathe is a struggle
You shake like a dying leave hanging onto the tree but the wind keeps ripping at you
It’s torture that you may never feel
If you never feel exposed in front of five people like this
You are Lucky
Why treat us like we’re insane?
We already feel insane with your gracious reminder
Why?
Please answer me
Why?

I suffer from depression and anxiety. My socail anxiety makes everyday at school a challenge. This is the feeling I have at times when teachers purposefully single us out. I encourage those who also battle with anxiety or people who want to know more about how it feels read this.
