Vultures drift on the poisoned wind

Circling on outstrectched wings

Under the fraying clouds

Under the graying sun

Below stretches the copper waste

As far as the eye can see

Red as wine

Red as blood

Red as burning grief

They came in their metal birds

Spat fire from the sky

Bones melted

We crisped and died

Turned to cinders

Charred to ash

The sky wept seeping tears

Hissing as they fell

The blue turned to noxious gray

Edged with crimson, violent black

The moon hovered, a gaping wound

Unbearable to face

Once a glimmering silver

Now condemnation in her scarlet gaze
