An Oddly Perfect First Date
- He'd pick me up and we'd exchange "hellos"
- He'd introduce himself to my family even if he was nervous and awkward
- We'd blare the music in the car on the way there and dance
- We'd forget about everything and laugh
- We'd drive to the bookstore and spend an eternity sorting through dusty shelves and vintage records, sharing our favorites
- In the end we'd only buy one
- We'd eat dinner somewhere small and unheard of and order the weirdest thing on the menu
- We'd just drive and talk
- When he finally brought me home he'd walk me to the door and kiss me goodnight
- He'd know that I'm old fashioned, but he'd also somehow know that I don't buy into all of it
- I'd smile without a word and dance inside on the tips of my toes, wondering how one evening could mean so much
- He'd stride away and plan on calling the next day...
...but I'd beat him to it
