Misguided
When you tell me to follow my heart
you actually mean my mind.
But it’s not like that helps me at all
when my mind is as convoluted
as the labyrinth of the Minotaur.
I suppose maybe you’re right;
It’s much easier to follow the incessant bounding of my heart
than to drive myself insane
chasing after pieces of Ariadne’s thread.
But that’s where the fun is, right?
In the chase?
Maybe I’d rather go insane
than live lifelessly,
Laboring under the monotonous beat of my heart.
Maybe it’s better to dive in lunacy,
than to live without my mind.
